Industrial Projects in SEA: VIRTUARCH’s Integrated Expertise

Industrial projects demand innovative design solutions and flawless project management. Virtuarch combines sustainability, localization and cross-cultural project management to help international clients successfully establish factories and industrial complexes across the South East Region.

CPF Yasothon, Thailand

As a strategic partner of CPF Group, Thailand’s and Southeast Asia’s largest food producer, VIRTUARCH designed two of the group’s first three green factories in Yasothon and Srisaket.
Sustainability in Action: Both factories reduce energy consumption by over 30% through optimized design of the building shell and the MEP systems.
Localized Solutions: Our Bangkok team integrates Swiss precision with tropical and sub-tropical climate adaptability, ensuring budget-friendly concepts which are both efficient and groundbrekaing.

Another good example for VIRTUARCH’s approach is the factory, warehouse, R&D center and office complex of TGN, a company specializing in flavors and fragrances for beverages. VIRTUARCH designed a sustainable building, having an efficient outside shading system reducing the heat loads from the facades, and implementing carefully designed skylights to maximize natural illumination, while hybrid ventilation systems tackle tropical heat, creating energy-efficient workspaces.

As the architectural consultant for BASIC, a Chinese investment in Indonesia, VIRTUARCH blends brand-aligned glass façades with sunshades for tropical adaptability and employee wellbeing.

While industrial buildings are highly technical, VIRTUARCH’s role is also to come up with concepts that satisfy both the foreign investor, but are rooted in the county where they are erected. VIRTUARCH’s sensibility for cultural differences allows it to develop concepts which are bridging cultural gaps.

Asia’s first Urschel facility merging production, labs, and offices for regional expansion, is a typical foreign investment designed to support Urschel’s strategic expansion in Asia as part of its worldwide expansion strategy. Urschel, the U.S. market leader specializing in designing, manufacturing, and selling commercial cutting equipment, is targeting establishing a strong footprint in Southeast Asia and therefore selected VIRTUARCH for the project preparation, the design and the project management of his setup in Thailand. VIRTUARCH’s integrated approach guarantees not only a state-of-the-art factory, but also one which is realized within the Client’s budget and timeline.

When looking at implementing a ‘China plus one’ strategy, Vietnam is one of the Southeast Asian countries popular both with Western and Chinese investors. Our work for INTCO RECYCLING is a good example of an investment in Northern Vietnam, in good shipping distance to both Mainland China and the nearest harbors. Benefitting from lower labour costs than China, VIRTUARCH’s long-term client INTCO aimed at realizing top workplace standards in the region, implementing factory, office and living quarters attracting talent both from the region and from neighboring China. With its reliable services and its specialized know-how, clients can be sure that VIRTUARCH delivers quality design which can be built with local resources.

Foreign investors in Southeast Asia are also increasingly being sensitive to sustainability and request the buildings to comply to international or local sustainability standards. A good example of this is the project of the French company IMAJ, who increased production capacity by refurbishing and renovating its factory in Northern Thailand. The intervention earned the LEED-certified label, based on the use of low-VOC materials and energy-efficient systems, aligning with IMAJ’s global carbon neutrality goals.
