Medtech Forum at Ypsomed Changzhou

On November 7, 2024, the Ypsomed Changzhou factory welcomed a delegation of SwissCham China and local MedTech representatives, who explored Changzhou’s dynamic MedTech ecosystem and engaged in discussions with local leaders to foster Swiss-Chinese collaboration as well as discussing the outlook for MedTech projects in the region. This event wasled by the delegation of Swiss MedTech companies under the auspices of Swiss Centers hosted by Mr. Xiaozhen, the CEO of Swiss Centers.

During the event, Mr. Daniel Heusser of VIRTUARCH delivered an insightful speech, sharing valuable experiences and practical advice on localization strategies for MedTech companies in China. The forum and a factory visit to the Ypsomed gave the participants of the Forum and the Swiss Delegation of MedTech Companies a deeper insight of a successful implementation of a MedTech project by VIRTUARCH. Discussions also gave valuable insights into opportunities for innovation and collaboration, highlighting Changzhou’s strategic role in the medical technology sector.

At the second segment of the Changzhou MedTech Day, the event commenced with remarks from distinguished guests. The proceedings were initiated by Mr. Reto Felber, the Plant Manager of Ypsomed Changzhou, who extended a warm welcome to all the attendees. Following his greeting, he highlighted how Ypsomed effectively integrates sustainability into its manufacturing processes.

Following the initial proceedings, Mr. Roger Germann, Chairman ofSwissCham Life Sciences Committee and Head of BD and EA at Geistlich gave a brief introduction of the committee. He underscored its key role in encouraging collaboration between Swiss and Chinese sectors in life sciences and MedTech.

Mr. Nicolas Musy, founding partner at China Integrated, wrapped up the session by presenting on strategies for localization. He shared practical advice and top strategies for dealing with China’s regulatory landscape.

As part of the Changzhou MedTech Day, the Swiss MedTech Delegation and other attendees toured the state-of-the-art Ypsomed factory in Changzhou, meticulously designed and managed by VIRTUARCH. The facility exemplifies what the MedTech industry requires when building new facilities in China and Asia. VIRTUARCH oversaw architecture design, interior design, and project management from feasibility to project completion, ensuring the building met Ypsomed’s highest quality production standards.
