Nara Thai Cuisine is a renowned restaurant brand in Thailand. Founded by a group of Thai Female entrepreneurs in 2004, the restaurant was named “Nara”, which comes from a Sanskrit word meaning ‘Woman’. The brand devotes itself to an authentic Thai heritage combined with a modern feminine ambiance, an approach which Nara wanted to implement in its new headquarter offices in Bangkok. Virtuarch has successfully handover this project in January 2020.
One Philosophy for Office and Restaurant
The Bangkok office design of the Nara Thai Cuisine should resemble its high-quality restaurant. Renowned for authentic Thai dishes, Nara Thai Cuisine combines the highest quality ingredients and age-old recipes which have been adapted into a modern context suitable for Nara’s dining ambience. This combination of tradition and modernity is well displayed in the design of the Bangkok office.
Focus on the Details
Traditional Thai decoration elements are adopted in the design of the Bangkok office. Caisson patterns can be found on the conference room ceiling, while hexagonal patterns are used on the floor. This design reminds of the ancient bourgeois villa décor mixing eastern and western elements.
The office hosts executive management, Human Resource, project and marketing department. The positions of all elements in the office strictly follow the traditional rules of feng-shui.
Adopting the transparent and communicative open office concept of Nara Cuisine, it offers a few of workplaces that are organized in groups of face-to-face desks along the window side.
Contemporary Comfort
The complete office is decorated with stylish Siamese luxury elements and ornaments with a western colonial touch. The overall office space is modern, but comfortable at the same time.
The reception desk is made of marble, which forms a gentle contrast against the background wall decorated with golden-leaf like patterns.
Warm, brown color schemes structure the space and give the office a unique charm while providing a home-like atmosphere. Furnished with the oak wood flooring, the work area with its fitting brown and wood walls immediately stands out. Corresponding shades of color ranging from yellow to brown tones highlights the structuring ceiling element and graces the wall decoration, which provide a beautiful unity vision. Selectively applied on walls, rich orange features emphasize the room’s construction by adding special touches to it.
The color fields’ strict geometries convey an architectural feel, while lively colors and some ironic twists – like Herman-Miller chairs, antique furniture and made-to-order furniture are combined in a smart and harmonious way – immediately contradict the serious appearance. The Nara brand prestige is also reflected in the selection of these high-end furniture.
