Sustainable Development is a top topic in China, and Swiss companies have much to offer in this field. Switzerland is a reliable partner for China, also in sustainable development. Therefore, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai organizes the Swiss Sustainable Construction Roadshow together with a photo exhibition, “Constructive Alps Exhibition,” in four cities: Changzhou, Ningbo, Suzhou, and Nanjing. Daniel Heusser, President of VIRTUARCH, was one of the selected Swiss panelists at the kick-off event in Changzhou on October 26th, talking about sustainable architecture.

Switzerland and China together

The Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, Olivier ZEHNDER, and the Vice Secretary-General of Changzhou Municipality, SHI Jiangshui, opened the Constructive Alps Exhibition: a series of prize-winning works on sustainable architecture projects in Switzerland and the Alpine region. Both attended the Swiss Sustainable Construction Roadshow. Around 200 guests learned about innovative sustainable solutions from Swiss companies and gained insights from the round table discussion.

Sustainable Architecture as part of VIRTUARCH’s DNA

To elaborate on “Green architecture for sustainable development,” five Chinese and Swiss architects, scholars, and experts shared examples of successful projects implemented in China. One of them was Daniel Heusser, who introduced innovative cases by VIRATUARCH and shared his expertise on successful sustainable architecture in the lively panel discussion. “At VIRTUARCH, sustainability is an integral part of our thinking. Whether we plan for offices, factories or schools, we always design buildings that reflect consciousness and awareness for the protection of the environment taking all requirements into account”, explains Daniel Heusser. On stage, he showed different projects VIRTUARCH realized in China. The audience was impressed by the innovative concept for the office building of the Swiss Company SULZER in Suzhou. The peculiarity of this 21,300 sqm large industrial project was to create an efficient and well-performing building, using sustainable materials related to the most advanced technology for energy savings, combining green philosophy and traditional Chinese Feng Shui principles.
